Bigi is a 13 month old male giant bred by a breeder in Tennesee. He was sold to a couple in
the D.C. area where he became a grooming customer at Dog a doo, Kat Brooks grooming salon
who also happens to own 2 giants, and grooms several in her shop. On 12/8 he was turned in
at her shop because he had been abused so badly several of his teeth had been broken off at
the gum line. Kat offered to take the dog and contact giant rescue. Janet Willis has taken
him in and his medical treatment is being done by a vet she routinely has used on rescues before.
Coincidentally he is a doggie dentist and also has given a considerable discount on his
services in the past. What was initially thought to be a few teeth, turned out to be 15
shattered or broken teeth that had to be removed and a broken jaw. He also neutered him
and xrayed his hips as he was very touchy about his hindquarters being touched. The good news
is that his hips are fine, and all of the surgery has been successful. He is now becoming
a giant bouncing bundle of untrained adolescent joy, and Janet is doing a terrific job of
getting him on the road to recovery, physically and mentally.
The bad news is that this surgery and his rehabilitation are going to cost a lot. So far
the surgery alone has cost over $2000.00 that Janet Willis has paid for out of her own pocket.
What was initially thought going to be a $500 bill has turned out to be much more expensive.
After he is feeling better a very experienced trainer that has rehabbed some rammy adolescent
giant rescues before is going to be consulted about his training. Kat Brooks is currently
collecting funds to help with the costs of this boy and to reimburse Janet Willis . We need
everybody to dig deep and think about giving this boy the chance he deserves. A very special
permanent home is going to be needed for this boy , somebody experienced in dealing with a 97
lb.giant bundle of energy. Yes, he will be a "project" dog, but those of you that have seen
the miracles that happen with lots of consistency, training and love, know how rewarding
it can really be.
